Sometimes "beach wedding" has a cheesy connotation, but this destination wedding at St. Simons Island is definitely the opposite of cheesy. It was simple, yet elegant and classy. Joel and Alison got married at Wesley United Methodist Church and then celebrated their wedding with a reception at the St. Simons Island light house or at the AJ Jones Heritage Center.

St. Simons is a prime destination wedding locations not only because of the beautiful beach, but also because of the beautiful venues around it such as Jekyll Island Club Resort, King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, Musgrove Retreats, and Sea Island Resorts.

But... Alison + Joel chose to have a destination wedding at St. Simons Island not because of the reasons I mentioned above. They chose to have a destination wedding at St. Simons Island because Alison grew up there and still has some family members at St. Simons Island. I love when weddings get real personal! So special.

On the morning of their wedding, the sun was shining. It was such a beautiful summer day, perfect for a destination wedding at St. Simons Island. We love starting the day with the details that were provided by Joel + Alison. One of the special details were the Bible. It was from her grandmother and she gave it to her as a wedding gift. And they also had the sweetest father-daughter first look! So sweet... Look at her mom's reaction! It gives me goosebumps every time I see these photos :)

After the details were photographed, we get to capture the moments of the guys and the ladies separately since they chose to see each other at the altar. There are so many good backdrop for this destination wedding at Wesley United Methodist Church. The spanish moss backdrop is every photographer's dream! So beautiful!

They also chose to do a destination wedding at Wesley United Methodist Church because a lot of her family members got married there. Such a special place. I love the chandelier and the fact that Wesley United Methodist Church has a lot of natural light.
Oh! The most important part.. The groom's reaction when he sees his bride is priceless.. :)

To celebration their destination wedding at St. Simons Island, they hosted their fun reception at the St. Simons Island light house which is called the AJ Jones Heritage Center. How fun is the father-daughter dance?
